Make a splash at Adventure Land in Plettenberg Bay

Category Area Info

"I'm bored" are words no parent wants to hear, especially on the weekend or a holiday break. Thankfully, living in Plettenberg Bay provides plenty of things to do to keep both young and old busy. Adventure Land is one such example, a 24-hectare water park surrounded by lush greenery typical of the Garden Route. With slides and rides, a playground designed to unleash boundless energy, and places to braai or picnic, it's the perfect family day out.

  • Address: Find it at Harkerville, Plettenberg Bay, 6600 along the N2 between Plettenberg Bay and Knysna.

  • Hours: Visit on Tuesday to Sunday (10 am-5 pm) and on weekends, public holidays, and school holidays. The venue is closed on rainy days for safety.
  • Price: Pay R185 per person or R80 per person under three for a ticket. The park is free for babies and has special rates for pensioners and groups.

Dive into the activities on offer

Having made CapeTown ETC and Getaway magazine's lists of top water/theme parks to visit, Adventure Land will have you packing your swimsuit in no time.

The rides range from mild to wild. Youngsters and gentler spirits will enjoy the mini supertubes and dedicated slides and pools. The 75-metre supertube thrills with its twists and turns while the lane race will have friends and families zooming over humps to get to the finish line. Adrenaline-seekers will love the speed of the kamikaze slide or the rush of the 12-metre free-fall slide. The raging rapid tube takes you through corners until you calmly float into the main pool.

On the dryer side, there are trampolines, jungle gyms and swings, and the chance to have a picnic or braai when tummies begin to rumble. Adventure Land also offers accommodation over at their Coral Tree Cottages so the fun can go on for days.

Make the most of your visit

You're almost guaranteed to see smiles on every face after a session at the park. And you can squeeze even more drops of fun during your time:

  • Call their office ahead as load shedding stops slides from operating.
  • Pack a picnic or braai as there are facilities and lawns to set up a spread. You can also grab a snack from their kiosk.
  • Pack a towel as they don't offer this for sale. You can, however, rent an umbrella or a locker to store your belongings.
  • Carry your sunscreen to prevent a burn after hours of fun in the sun.
  • Leave glass items and alcohol at home as these are not allowed in the water park. The same goes for portable braais.
  • Reach out to the first aid staff if someone gets hurt. They are very friendly and happy to help.

Have adventures a stone's throw away

Adventure Land is open eight months a year, giving you a fun, budget-friendly option to keep every member of your family entertained. By moving to Plettenberg Bay, you can experience the joy as you please. Because of all the other family-friendly activities the area is known for, there will never be a dull day on your calendar.

Plettenberg Bay boasts six Blue Flag beaches including Robberg 5, The Waves, Nature's Valley, Lookout, The Dunes, and Singing Kettle. These support a variety of ocean wildlife worth spotting including whales. In fact, the area was recently named the 7th Whale Wonder of the World and declared a Whale Heritage Site.

Nature lovers will also love visits to Robberg Nature Reserve, Birds of Eden, Monkeyland Primate Sanctuary, Jukani Wildlife Sanctuary, Tenikwa Wildlife Awareness Centre, and Lawnwood Snake Sanctuary. There are also maze and riddle challenges to solve at Plett Puzzle Park and eclectic craft shopping to do at Old Nick Village. An exceptional culinary scene, including popular restaurants like the Fat Fish and The Lookout Deck, pleases all palates.

With so much to do and a surge in semigration, the property market and hospitality industry is booming in Plettenberg Bay. Explore our properties for sale, including houses, apartments, duplexes, farms, estates, and vacant land, to make your home or start an accommodation business.
