It's a prime spot to see whales and has several fishing pools ideal for casting your line. Cove Rock Beach is also the go-to beach for many surfers and divers. Don't miss the beach's sandstone formations; these are the homes of fascinating breeding seabirds.

Eastern Beach (17 mins)

East London's vibrant beach culture is best experienced at Eastern Beach. From surfers catching waves, photographers capturing that once-in-a-lifetime shot, to swimmers enjoying fun in the sun - everyone wants their space on this sandy paradise. The nearby East London Aquarium is one to visit to see the incredible marine creatures conserved here.

Nahoon Beach (22 mins)

Surfers and swimmers, eat your heart out. Nahoon beach provides the ideal conditions for a dip or wave-riding session. The beach also forms part of the famous Discovery Surfers Challenge, a 17.5 km race over rocks, loose sand, and water. After your active pursuits, visit The Reef Cafe just up the hill for that much-needed burger break.

Igoda Beach (22 mins)

Igoda Beach is a wide-open sandy beach with dune forests. It offers plenty of activities from fishing, swimming, paragliding, to kiteboarding. Along the beach is a nature reserve that springs to life with flowers in late spring and early summer. The area is a must-visit for birdwatchers; it's a great place to spy fish eagles, kingfishers, owls, to name a few birds.

Kidds Beach (22 mins)

The coastal town of Kidds Beach brings in families year after year. The gorgeous beach with its opportunities for boating, surfing, fishing, and swimming is a major part of the appeal. Over the water sports? Not a problem. The area has a parkrun that takes you through bush, dirt road, tar road, and past stunning views of the ocean.

Gulu Beach (22 mins)

Recreational anglers will take pleasure in Gulu beach. It provides year-round opportunities from the banks of the Gulu River or mouth. It isn't high on the list of beach-goers so you are almost always guaranteed a quiet time fishing. In the summer, traffic does pick up as people flock in to enjoy the sand between their toes.
