Bloubergstrand Beach
Sun-lovers and surfers alike flock to the Blouberg area to enjoy the white sandy beaches. At Bloubergstrand Beach, you’ll not only find the best spot to fly your kite, but you can take the best Instagram-worthy pictures with Table Mountain as your background.

Blue Peter Hotel
Hang out at the Blue Peter. This is one of the oldest sites in Bloubergstrand dating all the way back to the 19th century. You will always find it bustling with people on the weekends and they offer a variety of food, from snacks to pizzas and of course delicious seafood and epic sundowners. On weekends it’s is packed with young Capetonians, and everyone claims a patch of grass or wall when the tables run out. 

Big Bay and Small Bay Beach
Big Bay and Small Bay Beach are divided by a rocky point. This area is famous for its awesome surfing, kitesurfing and windsurfing, attracting sportsmen and women from all over the world to participate. Small Bay Beach is a smaller, quieter alternative. It’s a great spot for a family outing or a picnic.

Cape Town Ostrich Ranch
This ranch is home to a small ostrich named Tom Thumb. This little guy is a mere 127 cm tall and holds the Guinness World Record for being the smallest ostrich in the world. Other than being the home of a world record holder, Cape Town Ostrich Ranch is known for hosting a fun, family day out. 

Blaauwberg Nature Reserve
The Blaauwberg Nature Reserve is located approximately represents one of the most intact and diverse lowland vegetation habitats in Cape Town and marks the beginning of the West Coast flora. The Blaauwberg Hill, which forms part of the nature reserve, offers one of the few viewpoints in the world from which two World Heritage Sites can be viewed, namely Table Mountain and Robben Island. Go for a hike and take in the beautiful scenery – you won’t regret it.

The Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds
SANCCOB is a registered non-profit organisation whose primary objective is to reverse the decline of seabird populations through the rescue, rehabilitation and release of ill, injured, abandoned and oiled seabirds – especially endangered species like the African penguin. Private groups may book an exclusive “behind the scenes” tour here which lasts for 45 minutes. 

Killarney International Raceway
There is always something happening at Killarney International Raceway. Here, you’ll find anything from drag racing to supercars and karting. The Killarney main circuit is available for hire, either for half or full days. Local journalists can often be seen testing new models on the circuit. 

Sunset Beach
Hidden gem alert! If you fancy sunsets and long walks on the beach, get them both – along with a view of Table Mountain that’s ready-made for postcards. This beach is a lesser known alternative to the others in this area, offering respite from the holiday hordes. It offers some spectacular views of Table Mountain and Robben Island.
