Cullinan at a glance

The delightful village of Cullinan that has managed to hold on to much of its mine’ character and its historic stone and corrugated iron homes, offices and churches. This village is sure to take you on a trip to the mining periods of the early 1900s, lies 30 kilometres east of Pretoria.

Cullinan diamond was discovered in 1905 and still mainly depends on diamond mining, although the local economy is boosted by tourism and an established farming community.

Cullinan’s Oak Avenue, splendidly lined with both Jacarandas and Oak trees, a living museum and tribute to this era. Exquisitely preserved Edwardian period structures complete with picket fences, porches, pleasing petite gardens, a number of restaurants and delightful coffee shops. Cullinan still serves the premier mine, located on a rich diamond-bearing kimberlite pipe, the largest in South Africa. The mine is the third largest diamond producer in the country.

Prices of homes for sale in Cullinan range between R1.1 million for standard three bedroom family homes with a bathroom and garage, to about R1.7 million for four bedroom homes with two bathrooms and large gardens.
