Bela Bela at a glance

Bela Bela gets its name from the Tswana word meaning “the pot that boils”. Understandably so, as it is the site of one of South Africa’s leading tourist attractions, Warmbaths. The town is often referred to merely as Warmbaths, because that’s what it is most famous for. Interestingly, the town itself was built around the natural hot springs that have since become a favourite family holiday destination.

These impressive springs bubble out an unbelievable 22 000 litres of water on a daily basis – originating from beneath the earth’s surface. The springs have resulted in an abundance of luscious vegetation, which, combined with the fertile soil, makes Bela Bela the ideal area in which to establish gardens, vegetable patches and the like.

Perfect for anyone who works in the tourism or hospitality industries, Bela Bela is renowned for its reputation as a wellness retreat destination. Within the town itself, you will find a holiday resort complete with waterslides, a hair and beauty salon and spa, which provides the local community with employment at the same time as providing enjoyment and relaxation for the thousands of tourists who flock to the region over weekends and school holidays.

Equipped with enough amenities to support both the local residents and tourists, Bela Bela truly is a “one in a million” kind of town. Revel in the area’s temperate climate – even during the winter months, the weather remains pleasant and warm, meaning that full advantage can be taken of the town and all its amenities all year long.

The perfect place to settle down, Bela Bela falls under the jurisdiction of the Waterburg Municipality and affords all residents with the opportunity to experience game drives, wildlife interactions and game walks.

Perfect for the young and old alike, Bela Bela is a great spot to unwind and retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city, while still being close enough to Johannesburg and Pretoria for a relatively easy commute.
