Akasia is a small urban area situated within one of South Africa's most important cities Pretoria. Its a destination which is comprised of various northern suburban locations and is under the jurisdiction of the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality. The origins of Akasia date back as far as 1904, where a suburb entitled "The Orchards" was constructed. There is a national airport within close proximity to Akasia entitled the Wonderboom National Airport its roughly 11 to 15 minutes away and is just over 10 km in distance. However, most of the other domestic flights and international ones will take place from the OR Tambo International Airport. If one wishes to get to the OR Tambo International Airport from Akasia it will take roughly 40 minutes to an hour and is around 60 km to 80 km depending on which route is chosen.
