A brief history of the area

The area has a long history and people have been inhabiting this part of the Gauteng expanse for centuries. However, the establishment of the residential and commercial node came in the month of March in 1950. It's stated that the area was originally part of a Witwatersrand farm called Zandfontein. The actual name Morningside is believed to come from a suburb by the same name situated in Southern Edinburgh, Scotland in the United Kingdom.

Another great aspect about living in Morningside is that its close to Park Station which also includes a Gautrain Station is also widely considered to be one of the transport hubs of the country and one can get a train or bus from Park Station to many different locations not just within the Gauteng province but all over the country.

The Morningside area only has a handful of hospitals and medical facilities on offer. However its close enough to some of the most affluent and extensive medical facilities on the continent. Some of the regarded medical facilities in or close to Morningside include Mediclinic Morningside, Mediclinic Sandton, Netcare Sunninghill Hospital and Medifam. 

Distance from key points (Airport/CBD)

Another aspect that makes many want to live in Morningside is the fact that it's keenly located to some of the most regarded locations in the whole of Johannesburg. If one wishes to travel to OR International Airport from Morningside its said to be roughly 29 km in distance and will take 30 minutes travel time depending. If one wishes to travel to the central parts of Johannesburg from Morningside its believed to take roughly 30 minutes and will be between 18 km to 24 km depending on which route is chosen.

The fact that its closely located to Sandton means that there is a surplus of great shopping around every corner. Some of the more popular places in which to shop includes Sandton City South Africa, Morningside Shopping Centre, The Wedge Shopping Centre, Benmore Centre, Morning Glen Mall, Rivonia Junction Centre and Oriental City.
